Strong defense and rebounding helped Valley City State to a 78-45 women's college basketball victory over Trinity Bible Friday.
The Vikings had a 46-26 edge in rebounding in the contest, including 21 on the offensive end, and collected 17 steals in the win.
Stephanie Pedersen led the Valley City scoring with 15 points with 11 points for Kelsey Hunter. The Valley City defense clamped down in the second half, as Trinity Bible shot just 25 percent after the break (7 of 28), and forced 26 turnovers in the game.
The Lions were led by Treva Nutter with a game-high 17 points and Kylie Flemmer finished with 11 points. Trinity Bible's women' and men's teams travel to Phoenixville, Pa., to compete in the AG Classic on Jan. 10-12.
