The Wolves defeated the Beavers by scores of 25-19, 25-18, 22-25 and 25-15. Northern picked up a conference victory over Minnesota-Crookston on Friday.
"I thought it was a good day for us offensively," said NSU coach Brent Aldridge. "We hit almost .300, so stuff we are working on is paying off, and that is nice to see."
Each team collected 50 kills in the match. The Wolves were led by Macey Finizio with 16 and Chelsea Chavez with a dozen. Ella Campbell had 16 digs and freshman setter Drew Smith finished with 41 set assists.
"Drew had a nice weekend. She did a nice job distributing the ball," said Aldridge. "Our passers overall did a good job."
Aldridge said the fans and parents are noticing the Wolves are improving.
"People are like, 'You guys are better than you were at the start of the year,' " said Aldridge. "We see it, too, in practice, as we get to know each other. We are getting better and it's nice to get a return on our investments. We swept a road trip and that's another step toward where we want to go."
The Wolves are back on the road next weekend with matches at Winona State on Friday and Upper Iowa on Saturday, both of which should be good tests, said Aldridge.
"It will be a chance to go on the road and see if we can get a little better," he said.
