MITCHELL -- After two straight ties, Aberdeen Central's girls' soccer squad got back on the winning track Saturday, handing Mitchell a 3-1 setback.
The squads were tied 1-1 at the half, and Aberdeen's Michaela Tofflemire put in the go-ahead goal in the 48th minute, assisted by Sarah Borchard. That same duo accounted for the final Central goal as well, with Borchard on the scoring end with an assist from Tofflemire.
Central wasted no time getting the scoring started when in the second minute of the first half, Taylor Schumacher tallied a goal with Taylor Morgan getting the assist. Mitchell tied the game in the 25th minute on a goal by Tania Youngstrom.
Aberdeen had a 36-9 advantage in shots. Central goalkeeper Brooke Braun made four saves.
"It was really good to get a win, it has been a long homecoming week," said Central coach Merle Aske. "We did a good job of finding a way to get a few more goals in. Overall, we played really well."
Aske said the team had to make a few adjustments to the lineup, and the girls filling in did a nice job. With two games left in the regular season, Aske wants to make sure his team is ready to face what lies ahead in the post-season.
"I am hoping we are turning the corner a little and finding our rhythm," he said. "We just need to keep working hard."
Central is now 7-0-3 on the season and will play its third game in four days, hosting Tea Area Monday at Swisher Field.
