MITCHELL -- Aberdeen's offense produced goals while its defense prevented them as Central rolled to a 7-0 high school boys' soccer win over Mitchell on Saturday.
The seven goals were a season high for the Golden Eagles, winners of three straight matches. The goals came in bunches for Central, which tallied three scores within the first seven minutes of the game.
"We were on them," said Aberdeen coach Steve Cogley. "I thought Mitchell came out really tentative, and we capitalized on that, and that's awesome. That's good for our team. There wasn't any letdown after (Friday). We deflated their sails and didn't let up."
Miah Wills and Grant Patronik combined to do a majority of the damage for Central. Wills finished with four goals on the day with two from Patronik. Tanner Woehl had the other Central goal. Shots were 31-3 in favor of the Golden Eagles.
Central's previous high for goals in a game was a 6-0 win, also over Mitchell earlier at Swisher Field. In the past three matches, Central has outscored opponents by a margin of 13-1.
"We left some (goals) on the field today as well," Cogley said. "We'll get back at it Monday. We have to make a few adjustments for Tea Area and see where that leaves us."
Central faces a new opponent Monday, hosting Tea Area at Swisher Field. Varsity game times are 3 p.m. for the boys and 5 p.m. for the girls.
