Dakota Wesleyan topped Presentation 27-25, 25-17, 25-10 on Saturday in collegiate volleyball. It marked the last match of the season for the Saints.
Presentation started out fast in the first set.
"We started out really strong with a lot of momentum," said PC coach Chelsey Albrecht. "We served very aggressively and got them out of system. We lost that momentum going into sets two and three. We struggled with defense and struggled with passing and weren't able to finish effectively in the last two sets."
It marked the end of the collegiate careers of three seniors: Kelsey Schmidt, Tina Boldt and Kelli Boekelheide. Schmidt played four seasons at Presentation while Boldt played three years and Boekelheide two seasons.
"They were some of my first recruits to go through the program. Their overall commitment to the program was very important. Our win and loss record hasn't been the greatest. Their willingness to keep working and keep instilling leadership qualities in our younger girls has been great," said Albrecht.
Boekelheide had seven kills in the final match and Boldt picked up 17 digs.
The Saints have 10 sophomores or freshmen listed on the roster.
"From last year to this year our biggest strength was our numbers," said Albrecht. "We had a competitive group in practice. We have a great group of young kids that came in and competed hard for us. You get excited because the future looks bright. Going into the spring season we have a lot of things to work on and get better at. We came away with experience for a lot of our younger kids."
