NSU seniors earn trip to nationals

 Two Northern State seniors have qualified for the NCAA Division II national track and field meet May 23-25 in Pueblo, Colo.

 Yvonne Freese will throw the discus for the Wolves, while Luke Hauert will run the 110-meter hurdles. A total of 754 athletes (377 men and women each) qualified, with the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference sending 32 women in 12 events and 23 men in 15 events.

 There will be 21 women throwing the discus at nationals. Grand Valley (Mich.) State senior Sam Lockhart has the best throw of 193 feet, 1¾ inches, while Freese is 19th in the nation with a throw of 154-0.

 There will be 21 men in the 110-meter hurdles. Hauert has the seventh best time in the nation in 14.03 seconds. Junior Moussa Dembele of St. Augustine's University in Raleigh, N.C., has the best qualifying time of 13.59 seconds.
