The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference has released their preseason indoor track and field coaches' polls.
The NSU men are picked to finish eighth out of 11 teams in the men's poll, while the women are picked to finish 10th out of 13 teams in the women's poll.
The Minnesota State, Mankato men and the University of Mary women were the top choices in the respective polls. On the men's side, the Mavericks garnered eight first place votes and 97 points. Augustana College was second with 86 points and a first place vote while Minnesota State-Moorhead was a close third with 85 points and two first place votes. The Wolves earned 35 points.
On the women's side, University of Mary was the coaches' choice with 142 points and ten first place votes. Augustana was second with 125 points followed by Winona State (117) and Minnesota State (104). Winona State and Minnesota State both received a first place vote. The Wolves earned 46 points.
The two NSU men athletes to watch were hurdler Luke Hauert and shot putter Gerardo Magana. The two NSU women athletes to watch were hurdler Jill Schaefer and pole vaulter Calley Worth.
The NSIC men's preseason field athlete of the year is Derek Bredy of Minnesota State-Moorhead, while the preseason men's track athlete of the year is Jerrell Hancock of Minnesota State, Mankato.
The NSIC women's preseason field athlete of the year is Carly Fehringer of Wayne State College. The preseason women's track athlete of the year is Melissa Agnew of the University of Mary.
