Aberdeen Central's girls' soccer team recorded its sixth shutout of the season Monday, handing Tea Area a 7-0 defeat at Swisher Field.
Olivia Schriver and Ally Steckler notched two goals each for the Golden Eagles, who won their eighth game of the season, with no losses and three ties. Central coach Merle Aske said the team played a "complete game" against Tea Area.
"We finally got back in our rhythm again," Aske said. "It was Senior Night, and the girls were fired up and ready to go. We have had a couple games where we haven't had a team effort, so it was nice to see us back in the flow of the game."
The hosts logged four goals in the opening half, the two by Schriver, plus goals from Sarah Borchard and Christy Renner. In the second half, Steckler scored twice along with a goal from Taylor Schumacher.
"We did a much better job of getting the ball in front of the net in dangerous positions so we could finish," Aske said. "Sarah and Michaela did a lot of work up top getting the team in the right position and stretching the defense and opening spaces for other players to get shots off."
Aberdeen had a 45-10 advantage in shots. Brooke Braun had six saves for the Golden Eagles.
Central's last regular-season match will be Friday as the Golden Eagles travel to Rapid City to face St. Thomas More. Aberdeen defeated St. Thomas More 2-1 in the opening match of the season.
