Aberdeen Central's boys' soccer squad won its fourth match in a row, defeating Tea Area 5-1 Monday at Swisher Field.

The Golden Eagles scored all five goals in the first half, getting two from Grant Patronik and one each from Tanner Woehl, Miah Wills and Matt Baumgartner. Wills also had a pair of assists for Central. Aberdeen goalie Joe Hilsendeger made five saves, and Aberdeen had a 24-9 advantage in total shots.

Central coach Steve Cogley said his team was "focused" in the match and once the Eagles got a 5-0 lead, started to play a more defensive style.

"We just wanted to really limit their chances," Cogley said. "Tea Area is a good team and they were pretty dangerous."

Cogley said that Tea Area had a player who launched long shots just over midfield and the Golden Eagles had to be mindful of those chances.

"We faced that probably 20 times in the second half," Cogley said. "We did an okay job with that, only one got in. I was really proud of how the boys played."

The Golden Eagles conclude the regular season Friday in Rapid City facing St. Thomas More. Central defeated St. Thomas More 3-0 in the first match of the season.
