The Hub City was well represented at the Watertown Invitational on Monday.

Aberdeen Central placed second at the meet, while Aberdeen Roncalli placed fourth at the nine-team tournament.

Watertown won the invitational with a 314. The Golden Eagles shot a 317 to earn the second place finish at Cattail Crossing Golf Course.

"We played a little better collectively than we did the last time out," Aberdeen Central coach Kurt Drube said.

Watertown's Drew Mahowald was the individual medalist as he shot a 72. Cameron Huff of Aberdeen Central placed third with a 77. Connor Preston placed sixth, Jonah Dohrer placed 10th and Trevor Hieb placed 15th for the Golden Eagles.

"We were pleased with our performance," Drube said. "That is right about where we have been playing."

The Cavaliers had two golfers finish in the top 15. Michael Duch carded a 78 to earn seventh, while teammate Gabe Heller placed 11th. Roncalli coach Keith Hurley also noted the solid play from Zach Streier and Jacob Gellhaus.

"They are both continuing to make progress for us," Hurley said. "They shot 87 and 86, respectively."

The golfers had to play in some windy conditions on Monday, but the golfers used the less than ideal conditions as a practice tool.

"It is great to be challenged in a competitive environment with some adverse conditions," Hurley said. "That nothing but makes the kids stronger and prepares them to handle adversity down the road."

Aberdeen Roncalli will play at the Sisseton Invitational on Thursday.

Aberdeen Central will play in the Eastern South Dakota Conference tournament this Saturday in Pierre.
