Redfield Dairy Queen smacked a total of 30 hits to sweep a doubleheader over Pierre.
Redfield won the amateur baseball doubleheader 11-6 and 9-8 on Sunday.
The home team was powered by eight runs in the sixth inning of the first game. The Dairy Queen team used eight hits and one Pierre error to push eight runs across the plate in one inning. Kelly Coates had two hits in the big inning.
For Pierre, Ryan Yackley and Tyson Lindekugel had two hits each, and Harry Decker added a double.
Joel Osborn was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate for Redfield and Coates and Edgar Tovar followed by going 3-for-4 at the plate. Brent Osborn, Tovar and Kerry Jacobson hit doubles in the game. Brent Osborn finished with two hits.
In the nightcap each team bunched together four runs in two different innings. The score was tied at 8-all before Redfield Dairy Queen scored the eventual winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Keith Gall led off the inning with a double and with two outs Coates hit an RBI single to left center. Pierre did not score in the top of the seventh inning.
Allen Goodman went 2-for-4 for Pierre with a double and a three-run home run in the sixth inning. Nate Buscher added three hits.
For Redfield, Gall improved to 3-0 on the season and Tovar picked up a save. Gall finished with three hits including two doubles and Joel Osborn tacked on three hits and four RBIs. Coates was 2-for-2 at the plate, and Brent Osborn and Tovar added two hits each.
Redfield Dairy Queen, which improved to 8-3 on the season, will play at Watertown today in one game starting at 7:30 p.m.
