Chuck Welke of Warner and 19 other individuals from across the state of South Dakota have been selected to receive the South Dakota High School Activities Association Distinguished Service Award for the 2013-14 school year.
It is the highest recognition bestowed by the SDHSAA. It is designed to honor individuals who have made significant long-term contributions to the high school athletic and fine arts activities in our state.
Other winners: Rod Fisher, Larry Johnson and Myron Bryant of Pierre; Terry Nebelsick and Gary Frankenstein of Huron; Rolf Olson and Rick Rognestad of Vermillion; Julie Andersen and Erik Thorstensen of Sioux Falls; Chris Specht of Yankton; Jim Dorman of Sioux Falls Lincoln; Mike Paris of Sturgis; Chuck Wilson of Todd County; Al Palsma of James Valley Christian; Tom Authier of Lyman; Dan Snethen of Little Wound; Jim Drake of Winner; JD Ackman of Brookings; and posthumously to Mike Dacy of Gregory.
