In game one, Groton trailed the entire game before rallying for a 4-3 victory, scoring all its runs in the last inning. The nightcap did not contain as much drama, as Groton prevailed 14-2 in five innings.
Locke Electric used four hits, a walk and a sacrifice fly to plate four runs in the seventh inning. Chad Ellingson drove in a pair of runs during the rally and Mitch Locke provided the game-winning single with two out. The squads combined for 11 hits, all of them singles.
The hosts broke open the second game with an eight-run third inning. Three Groton pitchers combined to limit Circus to four hits. Offensively for Locke Electric, Tyson Paulson collected three hits and Heath Giedt two, with a double for each. Groton, 2-0, will be at Britton Tuesday for a single game at 7 p.m. Aberdeen Circus will be in Redfield Saturday to take on Dairy Queen at 2 p.m. and Parkston at 4 p.m.
