Aberdeen Central state champion wrestler Griffin Hieb will attend Dakota Wesleyan University, according to DWU wrestling coach Matt Sedivy.

Other recruits include Logan Tonak from Willow Lake, who was second at 220 pounds at the State B Meet and finished sixth as a junior for Clark-Willow Lake, and Trevor Peter, who earned four letters for Dell Rapids. He went 36-16 at 195 pounds and took eighth at the state meet as a senior in 2013. The fourth recruit is Slyle Seydel from West Branch, Iowa, who finished with a 134-38 career record.

Hieb set Central school records for pins, wins, team points scored and near falls in a career, along with team points scored in a season. He earned four All-Eastern South Dakota Conference honors and was a three-time team most valuable. He won a State A championship last season at 138 pounds. A six-time state qualifier, Hieb also finished fifth as a junior at 138, second at 140 pounds as a sophomore, sixth at 119 pounds as an eighth grader and eighth at 103 pounds as a seventh grader.

Griffin will join his brother Austin Hieb at Dakota Wesleyan. Austin will be a senior on the Tigers' golf team this fall.

"I'm really excited about the guys that are committed for next year," Sedivy said. "We've worked hard to make sure these young men fit the expectations we have of our wrestlers, and each of these student-athletes will make a positive impact on Dakota Wesleyan in the following years."

The Tigers were 7-5 last season and finished third in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
