The Golden Eagles finished with a team score of 373, while Sioux Falls O'Gorman won the meet with a 295. There was 10 total teams in the tournament, which included six Eastern South Dakota teams and the four Class AA Sioux Falls schools.
"It was a pretty good meet in terms of quality," Central coach Kim Zimmerman said.
Jamie Benedict of Sioux Falls O'Gorman defeated Megan Mingo of Yankton in sudden death on the second playoff hole. Kayla Krueger was Central's best finisher. She scored a 88 to finish in the top 20.
"It was better than the other day at Mitchell in terms of score," Zimmerman said. "I don't know if she struck the ball better, but her score was better today."
Central's four other golfers - Brianna Kuckelburg, Mikayla Santjer, Sydney Wirebaugh and Jessica Gourneau - all finished under 100. Zimmerman was pleased with Santjer, an eighth grader, and Wirebaugh, a seventh grader, getting under 100.
"Our goal for those two is to get them under 100 and go from there," Zimmerman said. "That happened today. We can always build on that and go from there, but it was nice to see them break 100 today."
Central will play at the Brookings Invitational on Thursday.
"The country club is definitely a challenging course for the girls," Zimmerman said. "There is no doubt about it. If you can go down there and score pretty well, that shows us something."
