Dickinson State is leaving the Frontier Conference, officials announced on Friday. The Blue Hawks formally withdrew their membership with the league, effective July 1, 2014.
Dickinson State is currently finishing their first full year in the Frontier Conference, competing in all sports from football to track and field. They will join the North Star Athletic Association in 2014, a new league made of six schools from North and South Dakota. The North Star will begin this fall with five teams: Presentation College, Jamestown College, Valley City State, Mayville State and Dakota State.
The North Star Conference received its official approval by the NAIA Council of Presidents at the recent NAIA Convention.
