Dakota State had its hitting shoes on Sunday, pounding out 27 hits in a college softball doubleheader sweep of Presentation.
The Trojans banged out 18 hits in taking a 20-3 victory in the first game and handed the Saints an 11-1 loss in the second game.
Presentation had a quick start in the first game, scoring a pair of runs in the first inning on RBI singles from Danielle Naumann and Steph Mastel. That proved to be the only lead that PC would have. Dakota State answered with two runs of its own in the first and second innings, and broke the game wide open with six in the third and a 10-run fourth inning.
The Saints, who were hampered by six errors in the game, scored once more as Mastel drove in Sarah Hendricks in the fifth inning. Mastel and Shelby Anderson had two hits each for the Saints in the loss.
Game two held more of the same for the Saints. Presentation tied the game at 1-1 the second on a double from Mastel and trailed just 2-1 before the hosts erupted for an eight-run third inning. Anderson also had a double for PC, the only two hits for the Saints. Brittany Hill had a perfect day at the plate for the Trojans, going 7-for-7 with 7 RBIs and scored three runs over the two games.
The Saints (7-19) travel to Yankton Wednesday for a 3 p.m. doubleheader with Mount Marty.
