Here are 10 things to know about today's NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament game involving South Dakota State:
10: The 13th-seeded Jackrabbits (25-7) will play the fourth-seeded South Carolina Gamecocks (24-7) at 3:10 p.m. today at the Coors Event Center in Boulder, Colo., in the first round of the Norfolk Regional.
9: According to SDSU, TV coverage is scheduled to begin on ESPN2 shortly prior to tipoff in the South Dakota and South Carolina markets. The broadcast also will be available to a national audience online through the Watch ESPN app and ESPN3.com.
8: South Dakota State has seven South Dakotans on its roster: Tara Heiser of Watertown, Chloe Cornemann of Yankton, two Pierre women (Katie Lingle and Steph Paluch, who is redshirting this year) and three Sioux Falls women (Ashley Eide, Anne Aamlid and Rachel Walters).
Cornemann's brother, Cale, is a former Northern State wrestler. Aberdeen native Nate Malchow was Eide and Walters' high school coach at Washington. Aamlid's family has an extensive history with SDSU athletics as her sister, Seri, played volleyball, brother, Nik, played football and father, Brian (1977-81), played basketball for the Jacks. Her dad and I were high school teammates at Bridgewater High School.
7: The other seven players on the 14-member SDSU roster are from Minnesota.
6: SDSU is 2-4 against teams in the field and this is the Jacks' fifth straight appearance in the DI tourney:
2009: Beat Texas Christian 90-55 in first round. Lost to Baylor 60-58 in second round.
2010: Lost to Oklahoma 68-57.
2011: Lost to Xavier 72-58.
2012: Lost to Purdue 83-68.
5: In its last 10 games, South Carolina is 6-4 and SDSU 9-1.
4: South Carolina advanced to the Sweet Sixteen last season.
3: The SDSU-South Carolina winner will play the winner of No. 12 Kansas (18-13) vs. No. 5 Colorado (25-6) at 8:30 p.m. Monday.
2: In its three Summit League games, SDSU made 49 of 57 free throws (86 percent). South Carolina makes 56 percent of its free throws.
