DES MOINES, Iowa -- Dickinson State's Cameron Schrempp has advanced to the quarterfinals of the NAIA national wrestling tournament in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Dickinson State senior from Eagle Butte will wrestle Max Payne of Montana State-Northern in the quarterfinals today in the 174-pound division. Schrempp defeated Jose Cruz of Embry Riddle 10-3 in the first round and picked up a 9-0 major decision over Dustin Branom of Truett-McConnell College (Ga.) in the second round.
Jamestown College senior Sean Blumhardt from Ellendale, N.D., lost his first match in the 125-pound division. He lost to Ethan Miller of Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) by a 6-4 decision. He then pinned Justin Williamson of Wayland Baptist at the 3:43 mark to stay alive in the tournament. He will wrestle Kristoph McKinley of Indiana Tech in the wrestleback rounds today. The final day of the national tournament will conclude today.
