The Panthers defeated Newell 63-50 on Tuesday in the Region 8B final.
Newell suffered through offensive droughts in the first and fourth quarters, and Timber Lake turned to a proven source of offense as Kristie Mettler exploded for a game high 27 points.
Newell got off to a slow start and trailed 19-2 after the first quarter. Newell picked up the pace in the second quarter and outscored Timber Lake 25-15 to be down by just seven points at 34-27. Newell would have only trailed by four points, but Mettler hit a buzzer beater from half court to end the second quarter.
Both teams put 15 points on the board in the third period so the margin stayed at seven points at 49-42. Newell would manage just eight points in the fourth quarter and Timber Lake pulled away for a 13-point win.
In addition to Mettler who also had six rebounds and five steals, Timber Lake received 11 points from Jordan Bickel.
Newell was led by Taylor Trohkimoinen with 24 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Ashley Hills chipped in with 11 points.
