The Wolves are 6-2 overall and 5-2 in conference play. The streak includes wins over Mary (6-3), Moorhead (8-1), Bemidji (9-0), Crookston (8-1), Upper Iowa (6-3) and Martin Luther (9-0).
This past weekend, NSU senior Jamie Golden and freshman Valerie Robinson won all six of their matches. NSU coach Mark Lovrien said, "We had a lot of players play some of their best tennis of the year."
On Friday in Sartell, Minn., the Wolves will resume NSIC play against St. Cloud State (2:30 p.m.) and Southwest Minnesota State (6 p.m.).

- After losing two in a row, the South Dakota State men's basketball team (21-9, 12-3) will close the regular season at 7:05 p.m. Thursday at Omaha, where a win would lock up a share of the Summit League regular season title and the No. 1 seed at the Summit League Championships. Or a Western Illinois (19-7, 11-3) loss in one of its two home games this week (Kansas City Thursday and South Dakota Saturday) would lock up the top seed for the Jacks as well.
- SDSU senior standout Nate Wolters needs 24 rebounds to become just the second NCAA Division I player to reach 2,000 points, 600 rebounds and 600 assists in his career. Maryland's Greivis Vasquez is the only player to achieve the rare trifecta. Only four players have reached 2,000 points, 600 rebounds and 500 assists in a career: Wolters, Vasquez, Duke's Danny Ferry and Penn State's Talor Battle.
- After a nasty fall in Saturday's game, Wolters is listed as a probable starter Thursday night for the Jacks. Wolters is a top 30 candidate for the 2013 Naismith men's college player of the year award.
- When Georgetown ended Syracuse's 38-game home win streak Saturday in men's basketball, SDSU took over as the Division I leader with 30 consecutive victories at Frost Arena in Brookings.
- The SDSU women's basketball team (21-7, 13-2) wrapped up its fourth Summit League title in six seasons as a Summit League member. The Jackrabbits close out the regular season at 7 p.m. Saturday at North Dakota State in Fargo.
- After the South Dakota men won the Summit League indoor track and field title with USD standout and Eureka native Jeff Mettler scoring 26 of the Coyotes' 190 points, USD coach Dave Gottsleben told the Sioux Falls Argus Leader, "We have 23 kids of our 36 from South Dakota. If you read our shirt, it says 'South Dakota' on it. And that's who we are."
- Sioux Falls Washington football coach Brian Hermanson resigned so he can watch his son Matt play college football at Montana. His SFW teams have played in the last six State 11AA championship games, winning three titles.
- The Aberdeen Wings, at Austin Friday and Saturday, have 12 games left in the regular season, six at home.
- Rightfully so, fans are still talking about the Wings scoring three goals in the final 76 seconds of regulation Saturday, including the tying goal with 1.6 seconds left, and then beating Brookings 5-4 in a shootout after a scoreless overtime period.
- The Wings went 5-3 in February.
- Jamestown College senior Sean Blumhardt (125) of Ellendale, N.D., and Dickinson State senior Cameron Schrempp (174) of Eagle Butte will wrestle in the NAIA National Tournament Friday and Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa.
- A second ice rink, six locker rooms and restrooms are scheduled to be added to the Mitchell Activities Center by this fall. The ice arena opened in 1995.
- University of Mary women's basketball standout Shaunna Knife was the NSIC player of the week. I wrote about Knife and her famous relative, 1950s South Dakota high school basketball legend Freddie Knife, in Sunday's edition.
