The Rushmore Thunder rolled past the Aberdeen Cougars on Sunday.
Aberdeen dropped the high school boys' hockey by an 8-2 decision at the Odde Ice Center. The Thunder netted at least two goals in every period, including four in the second to take a commanding 6-2 lead going into the third period.
Aberdeen's Bailey Roberts netted a goal in the second period to get the Cougars within 3-2. However, Rushmore then scored three quick goals to go ahead 6-2 and it then added a pair of insurance goals in the third period. Matt Harty scored Aberdeen's other goal in the first period.
Aberdeen goalie Nick Dalchow had 18 saves in the game. Aberdeen will host the Sioux Falls Flyers today at 2:30 p.m. at the Odde Ice Center.
