BRANDON -- Nine three-pointers kept Aberdeen Central in the game and one more could have forced the game into overtime.

Brandon Valley outlasted Aberdeen Central 47-44 on Saturday in a high school boys' basketball game in the Eastern South Dakota Conference.

The Golden Eagles had the ball in the closing seconds, trailing by three points. Central missed a three-point attempt, but the shooter was fouled. The first free throw was missed and the game ended.

"It was a very physical game. I'm proud of our guys," said Central boys' coach Brent Norberg. "The guys kept going. It was tough for either team to score. (Chase) Marso got rolling early. In the first half, he was their entire offense."

No Brandon Valley player other than Marso connected on a field goal until two minutes remained in the third quarter. Marso finished with 26 points. Brandon Valley's Jacob Adams (6-feet-3) finished with seven points.

"We've taken care of that Adams kid. The kids showed a lot of heart. I thought we outworked them and outplayed them. It's good to know that we can play good on the road in a big game because it looks like we'll be on the road in the postseason," said Norberg.

The Golden Eagles made nine three-point field goals in the game, but got hurt in the rebounding department. The Lynx grabbed up 12 more rebounds than Aberdeen.

"We're not good on the glass and it cost us this game and cost us other games," said Norberg. "Some of it is our size and some of it is not paying attention to details."

Aberdeen Central finishes the regular season on Tuesday by hosting Pierre in an ESD game at Golden Eagles Arena.

"Pierre is good," said Norberg. "We didn't play well out there and did a poor job on (Zach) Hanson. We're looking forward to the challenge. We didn't have Carter (Paulson) when we went out there."

After both Central and Mitchell lost on Saturday, the two District 3AA teams are tied at 13.89 in seed points. The two teams are contending for the third spot in the district.
