Dakota State handed Presentation a 3-1 college volleyball setback Tuesday night in Madison.
The Trojans won by scores of 25-15, 22-25, 25-17, 25-12. Presentation coach Chelsey Albrecht said the Saints played well in the first two sets, but were hampered by fatigue as the match wore on.
"I thought we passed well for the first two sets and were very effective in getting kills," Albrecht said. "The third and fourth sets, we had to work a little harder to get kills."
Albrecht said the Saints got to within three points of Dakota State in the third set before the hosts went on a long run during which the Saints got tired.
"That carried over to the fourth set," Albrecht said. "We weren't moving very well and weren't passing well."
Dakota State hitter Kristen DiPaola led the Trojans with 25 kills, including the 1,000th of her college career. The hosts had 57 kills on the night, compared to 32 for the Saints. Megan Goedert had a dozen kills and a dozen digs to pace the PC effort.
Albrecht said the Saints were without Haley Boisjolie, who was suffering from the flu. Albrecht said that PC received a nice effort from Kendra Ostrom 10 digs.
Presentation travels to Ellendale, N.D., Tuesday for a match at Trinity Bible. The teams faced each other earlier this season.
"We are a much different team than we were a month ago," Albrecht said. "We've played some competitive matches as of late. I expect us to be ready to go."
