Warner continued its dominating season on Monday.
The Monarchs swept Aberdeen Roncalli 25-13, 25-17 and 25-10 on Monday at Roncalli Gym in a non-conference high school volleyball match. Warner, No. 1 in Class B, is now a perfect 26-0 on the season and have not lost a single set in 66 tries on the year.
"They are just a super team," Aberdeen Roncalli coach Janelle Bierle said. "They are well coached and they have that tradition that never graduates."
Warner pounded out 44 kills en route to the win. Six-foot-2 Miranda Ristau had a match-high 15 kills, while Roncalli as a team had 15 kills. Northern State recruit Rachel Rogers, who is also 6-foot-2, racked up 12 kills. Six-foot-1 Carly Rozell added seven kills. Rozell also had six of Warner's 13 aces on the night.
"That is one thing we are fortunate to have is different hitters to go to, and mix it up a bit," Warner coach Kari Jung said.
What is it like playing with all those hitters?
"There is no nothing better," Rogers said. "It is so fun. I love it."
The taller Monarchs imposed their will early and often on its way to another sweep. Warner went on a 12-3 run to close set one. The Cavaliers, who are ranked No. 5 in the latest Class A poll, hung right with the Monarchs in set two as it was tied 14-all.
"We made some adjustments," Bierle said about set two. "We thought we were going to be where they were hitting and their hitters are that good that they just move their spikes to a different spot on the court."
Warner closed on an 11-3 run to claim set two. The Monarchs jumped out to a 16-6 lead in set three and were never threatened on its way to the win.
"The first two sets we were kind of playing down," Rogers said, "but the third set we kind of pulled it back together and we played how we could."
Warner also limited the Cavaliers hitters on the night. Carly Rozell, Ashley Rozell, Kari Gascoigne and Rogers each finished with two block assists.
"We were trying to get up a big block and just hoped they had to hit around us and that we could pick up," Jung said, "but they placed the ball well."
Seniors Abby Dockter and Alyssa Wherry finished with four kills apiece. Senior Lindsey Hahler was held to just two kills. The Cavaliers, who saw their seven match winning streak end, will host Ipswich at 8 p.m. tonight at Roncalli Gym.
"I'm just proud of the girls and they way they competed and against a team that is undefeated and is just a powerhouse," Bierle said. "I'm just proud of them."
That powerhouse will play again tonight when they host Leola-Frederick in a Lake Region Conference match.
"We are really getting our stuff together and I think we are playing well as a team," Rogers said.
