The defending State A champions won the last four weight classes and racked up a total of six pins for a dual win.

Pierre beat Aberdeen Central 47-20 on Friday in an Eastern South Dakota Conference wrestling dual.

"For us to beat them, we have to wrestle perfectly," said Aberdeen coach Rocky Burkett. "We have to win some matches that we might not be favored to win and get an upset or two. We can't give up bonus points. We gave up six pins and that's 18 extra points right there."

The Golden Eagles won three out of four weight classes in the middle weights to pull within five points at 25-20. Mitchell Johnson started the ball rolling with a double overime win at 145 pounds. John Frisco followed with a 13-1 major decision over Seth Scott at 152 pounds. Grayson Neuharth narrowed the gap with a 12-4 major decision at 170 pounds.

The Governors took over and did not allow a point in the final four weight classes, picking up three pins and a major decision to close out the match.

"Everyone wrestled very hard. We just can't give up bonus points. Trevor Larson (126 pounds) beat a kid that beat him last time. Mitchell had a tough win. John Frisco won by two or three points the last time, but this time he had a major decision. If we're to beat a team that good, we can't make mistakes," said Burkett.

Larson edged Aaron O'Day by a score of 3-2 and Trevor Hieb pinned his opponent in the 120-pound match for the other Central wins.

The Central wrestling team takes a holiday break and returns to action on Jan. 4-5 at the Rotary Invitational in Bismarck, N.D.

"We'll give them a little break," said Burkett. "We have to get some extra workouts in if we want to be as good as everyone else. We have to have the kids go out and get some workouts on their own."
