Aberdeen and Minot were all tied up for most of the night on Saturday.
The Wings lost 4-3 in a shootout against the Minotauros on Saturday at the Odde Ice Center in a hard-hitting and physical North American Hockey League contest. The Wings fell behind 2-0 early in the second period. However, Aberdeen scored three goals in the second period to knot up the score at 3-3 all entering the final frame.
Justin Parizek netted two goals in the second period and Peter Krieger added one as well. Krieger's goal and Parizek's second goal came just 16 seconds apart. However, the Wings did not score again -- and that included in the shootout.
Neither team scored in the third period or the overtime session. Minot's David Parottino and Steven Sherman then scored a goal apiece in the shootout. Aberdeen's Colton Kramer, Erik Baskin, Mike Parnell and Krieger could not get one past Minot goalie Tyler Parks in the shootout. Parks finished with 45 saves. Aberdeen goalie Marcus Zelzer was nearly identical with 44 saves.
Jake Clifford scored the game's first goal in the first period. Jake OBorsky of Minot then put his team up 2-0 with a goal just under three minutes into the second period. The Wings then rallied in the third period, but it wasn't enough.
The shots were even at 48-48. Aberdeen will play at Coulee Region on Friday.
