The Dakota Wesleyan men's golf team will have one more name on its roster when the spring portion of the 2012-13 season starts up in March.
Former Sully Buttes golfer Tommy Anderson will join the Tiger men's golf program starting in the spring semester. Anderson is transferring from the Division I Central Florida, and comes to the Tigers with freshman eligibility.
Anderson graduated from Ponte Vedra High School in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., but spent the first two years of his high school career at Sully Buttes. As a sophomore, he helped the Chargers to the Class B state title and finished runner up individually. He tied for 16th at the state tournament as a freshman in 2009.
Anderson won more than 15 tournaments in his high school career and played on the North Florida Junior Tour after moving down south. He earned five varsity letters in golf and also lettered four times in basketball and three in football. Anderson, who plans to major in finance, was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated cum lade.
"Tommy is a great mid-season addition to our team," Dakota Wesleyan coach Adam Anderson said. "He has a strong golfing background and is a fierce competitor on the course. I'm excited to see how much he can help our team.
Aberdeen Central graduate Austin Hieb is also on the Dakota Wesleyan men's golf team. The Tiger men are currently sixth in the Great Plains Athletic Conference standings after two qualifiers in the 2012 fall season. The third and fourth qualifiers of the year will be this spring.

PC/TBC doubleheader
The Presentation College men's and women's basketball teams will host Trinity Bible tonight.
The PC and TBC women's game starts at 5:30 p.m., while the men's game will follow at 7:30 p.m. Both games are the Strode Center.
The Presentation women defeated the Lions 76-62 last season. The Saints were led by Hannah Phillips' 37 points and 10 rebounds. Rachel Fuhrmann chipped in with 15 points and 6 boards. PC enters this year's contest with a 2-3 record. Fuhrmann leads the team with 17 points per game, while Senior Kelli Boekelheide enters the contest averaging a double-double, 14 points and 10 rebounds per game.
The PC men are coming off a pair of wins this past weekend in Nebraska. The Saints played Nebraska Christian on Friday and rolled to an 85-60 win. They then played Union College. Senior Darrell Farr notched his fifth double-double in 6 games, scoring 22 points while hauling down 19 rebounds. Junior Anthony Hendricks chipped in with 19 points on 8-15 shooting. He also added eight boards as the Saints picked up their fourth win of the year 78-67.
The Trinity Bible College men are 6-6 on the season. Aberdeen Christian graduates and twin brothers Michael and David Rohrbach are senior guards for the Lions. The TBC women are 7-5 this season.

NSU swimmers compete at Rochester Invitational
The Northern State swimmers, back in the pool for the first time in two weeks, gave a competitive showing at the Rochester Invitational, which concluded on Sunday.
The Wolves racked up season and personal best times throughout the two-day event. NSU posted 29 season and 12 personal best times in 36 total races on Sunday.
The Wolves began the evening session on Sunday by dropping four seconds off their season pace in the 200 medley relay. That race set the tone for the rest of the night.
Samantha Gunning, who was a finalist and set new personal records in every race she entered on the weekend, finished fifth in the 400 individual medley and fourth in the 200 butterfly to cap an outstanding meet for the sophomore. She also set new personal standards in the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly earlier in the meet.
Other PRs included Elizabeth Cvrk (200 butterfly), Briana Iverson (1,000 freestyle), Samantha Bahr (100 freestyle), Cynthia Konechne (100 freestyle), Ashley LaFave (100 freestyle), Lindsey Wilson (100 backstroke) and Nicole Arnold (200 breaststroke).

Augie finalists
Augustana College Director of Athletics Bill Gross has announced the three candidates have been invited to campus as finalists in its search for a new head football coach.
The finalists include David Brown II, head coach at Missouri S&T, Daren Wilkinson, former quarterbacks coach and recruiting coordinator at Colorado State, and Jerry Olszewski, head coach at St. Olaf College.
Each of the candidates will be on campus today through Friday for interviews with the search committee, members of the football team and university administration.
Brown recently completed his third season as the head coach at Missouri S&T and was previously the defensive backs coach at Ohio University from 2006-10. Wilkinson spent four seasons at Colorado State from 2008-12 where he coached quarterbacks and worked as the assistant recruiting coordinator. Prior to arriving in Fort Collins, Wilkinson spent four seasons as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks and wide receivers coach at South Dakota State University from 2004-2007.
Olszewski just finished his fifth season as the head coach at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., and was previously the defensive coordinator at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point from 2006-08.
Augustana fired head coach Mike Aldrich last month after a 5-6 season. Aldrich was one of four finalists for the Northern State job, which ultimately went to current coach Tom Dosch.

Purdue senior women's basketball player and Stanley County graduate Sam Ostarello had 23 points and nine rebounds Sunday to help No. 14 Purdue defeat Central Michigan 87-71.
Minnesota State, Mankato's acting head coach Aaron Keen has been named the National Football Coaches Association Regional Coach of the Year. Keen, who has guided Mankato to a 13-0 record, is in his second year with the Mavericks. In addition to leading the Mavericks to an undefeated season so far, Keen saw his squad win the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championship and the NSIC South Division crown. This past weekend, thanks to Minnesota State's 17-10 win over Missouri Western State, the Mavericks won the NCAA Super Region No. 3 earning a berth into this weekend's semifinal contest.
Winona State defeated Lindenwood 41-21 in the Mineral Water Bowl on Saturday in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Senior running back Rayon Simmons led a Warrior rushing attack that rolled up 294 yards on the ground. Simmons, the game's offensive Most Valuable Player, rushed for over 100 yards in the first half while scoring a touchdown. The senior also caught three passes for 62 yards. Simmons ends his Winona State career with 5,246 rushing yards, the most in school history. He finished his senior season with 1,774 rushing yards, another program record.
In a battle of the top two NCAA Division II volleyball teams in the country, No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul claimed the NCAA Central Region Championship on Saturday night with a 3-1 victory over No. 2 Nebraska-Kearney in St. Paul, Minn. Concordia (30-4) will take on Wingate University in the national quarterfinals on Thursday in Pensacola, Fla.
