Justin Parizek's goal with 44 seconds remaining lifted the Aberdeen Wings past the Austin Bruins 4-3 on Saturday at the Odde Ice Center.
The goal capped off a third period rally for the Wings in front of 1,283 fans. Aberdeen trailed 3-2 entering the final 20 minutes in the North American Hockey League game. Mike Parnell netted a goal six minutes and 27 seconds into the third frame to knot the score at 3-all. The game appeared headed to overtime until Parizek scored at the 19:16 mark on assists from Dylan Dailey and Peter Krieger.
Aberdeen jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first seven minutes. Tyler Cisar scored a goal at the 3:20 mark on assists from Erik Baskin and Parnell. Joe Sullivan scored less than four minutes later on assists from Parizek and Krieger.
The Bruins, who defeated the Wings 5-1 on Friday, answered with a pair of goals later in the first stanza to even up the score. John Simonson and Josh Bretner scored the goals for Austin to even it up at 2-all entering the second period.
C.J. Smith netted a goal in the second period to give the Bruins a 3-2 lead entering the third period. Parnell then scored his goal on an assist from Sullivan before Parizek dropped home the game-winner.
The Bruins out-shot the Wings 40-36. There were only five penalties in the contest. Austin went 1-for-4 on power play chances, while Aberdeen went 0-for-1 on power play opportunities.
Aberdeen goalie Marcus Zelzer had 37 saves. Aberdeen will host rival Bismarck next Friday and Saturday. Both games will start at 7:15 p.m. at the Odde Ice Center.
