BLAINE, Minn. -- The Aberdeen Wings concluded their four-game slate at the NAHL Showcase in style Saturday, logging a 1-0 victory over the Topeka Roadrunners.
Aberdeen scored its goal on a power play 19 seconds into the second period, as Jake Horton found the net with assists going to Dillon Eichstadt and Bjorn Sigurdarson.
Shots were basically even with 21 for Topeka and 19 for the Wings. Aberdeen outshot Topeka 13-9 in the first and third, but Topeka owned a 12-6 advantage during the middle period.
The victory was the first shutout of the season for Aberdeen, which surrendered six goals in its first three games while scoring seven times.
Aberdeen (3-1) will return to the ice Friday with a game at Brookings and have its home opener the next night, hosting the Blizzard at the Odde Ice Center. Both games have 7:15 p.m. start times.
