GROTON -- The second of two goals from Ehkhu Poe lifted Groton to a 3-2 high school boys' soccer decision over Aberdeen Central on Tuesday.

The teams exchanged goals throughout the match, with Poe netting the deciding goal in the 73rd minute. Poe also scored Groton's first goal of the second half. Luca Kother had the Tigers' first goal. Aberdeen's goals were both scored by Miah Wills, one in each half.

Central goalkeeper Joe Hilsendeger made four saves, while Chance Strom had nine saves for Groton. Shots were 27 to 14 in Aberdeen's favor.

Central coach Steve Cogley said the match wasn't one of the team's best on the season.

"I thought by far this was our most disappointing soccer. We fell into a style we were not comfortable with," Cogley said. "We made two really glaring mistakes. Their first goal was nice, but the next two, our back line was trying to do more than it should have. They made us pay, so give credit to them."

The loss was the third of the year for Central, which has three wins and a tie as well. Central returns to action Friday hosting Sioux Falls O'Gorman at Swisher Field. The boys' varsity game is scheduled for 3 p.m. O'Gorman claimed a 1-0 victory over Central when the squads met earlier this season in Sioux Falls.
