Lessons learned last week by Aberdeen Central were put into practice Tuesday as the Golden Eagles recorded a 6-0 boys' soccer victory over Mitchell at Swisher Field.
Five different players had a goal for Central, which opened a 4-0 lead at the half on goals from Josh Parker, Dillon Prissel, Jesse Margolies and Miah Wills. Grant Patronik added to the lead in the second half and Wills scored Central's final goal.
Golden Eagles' coach Steve Cogley said the team was able to finish its chances better than over the weekend at Sioux Falls O'Gorman.
"I really think it was a step forward from the O'Gorman game," Cogley noted. "We created a lot of chances against them and we did again today, but the nice thing is we were able to finish today."
Cogley credited the Mitchell goalie with making some key saves or Central's goal total could have been higher. Also, Cogley was happy about the Eagles being more aggressive and making smart decisions.
"I was happy with the tempo of our possessions," he said. "Knowing when to possess the ball and when to penetrate. That will be important going forward, having that patience."
Central improved to 3-1-1 and will travel to Harrisburg on Saturday. The boys' varsity game is scheduled for 5 p.m.
