Bo Gregor picked up his first career feature win on Friday at the Brown County Speedway.
The Lisbon, N.D., auto racer won the Pure Stock feature race. It was the rookie driver's first feature win -- and he barely got it.
"I didn't know for sure," he said after the 12-lap feature. "I knew it was really close."
Hecla's Ashley Wampler led for the first 11 laps of the feature. She was getting pressured by Luis Chavez Jr. of Aberdeen and Gregor in the late stages of the race. Gregor then snuck past Wampler and Chavez coming around turn four. Gregor then held off the two at the finish line for the photo-finish win.
"I was just holding my line," Gregor said about the finish, "trying to be as clean as I could. I didn't try to hit Ashley at all. I tried to race everybody clean."
The Pure Stock photo finish was just another great race at the local oval on Friday night.
Chad Becker of Aberdeen won the 25-lap Late Model feature race which had only one caution flag.
"It was pretty fast and racey," Becker said. "It was fun."
Becker led for the final 22 laps of the feature, but had to fend off Kent Arment of Aberdeen and David McDonald of Huron down the stretch for the win. Becker was running the high side, while Arment was running the low side.
"I never really saw him at all," Becker said about Arment. "I kind of got by everybody at the bottom and put it up top and let it roll from there."
It was Becker's second feature win of the season at the BCS.
"Hopefully we can get rolling now," Becker said.
Chris Serr of Aberdeen picked up the Street Stock feature win on Friday. Serr was leading midway through the race when he got hung up in lap traffic and almost rear-ended Toby Eilers of Aberdeen.
"I had to work for that one," Serr said. "Lap traffic scared me. I was trying to figure out what way (Eilers) was going to go and I got hit from the back at the last minute. I thought we were going to end up in a pile."
Serr then had to fend off Michael Bogh of Huron and Tyler Lambert of Aberdeen toward the end of the race.
"I saw Lambert was second on the restart," Serr said. "He is always tough. I stepped it up a little bit. I had no idea how close they were."
Tyler McDonald of Huron won the Modified feature at the dirt track -- his first of the season at the BCS.
"The track is racey," McDonald said. "There is definitely two lanes out there."
McDonald started the race outside of row one and led from start-to-finish during the 20-lap feature, but had to hold off a fast-charging Mike Stearns of Hecla to earn the win.
"I saw him on the bottom once," McDonald said. "I was kind of hoping the checkered was coming."
Dustin Arthur of St. Lawrence won the Super Stock feature on Friday night.
The races will continue at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14, during the Brown County Speedway. The Late Model Challenge Series will come to Aberdeen that night.
