- To date, 166 alumni of the North American Hockey League have committed to an NCAA school during the 2012-13 season. That includes former Aberdeen Wings Justin Parizek (University of Nebraska-Omaha), Zach Nagelvoort (University of Michigan) and Jordyn Kaufer (Concordia College).

- Sioux Falls Lincoln assistant Matt Daly has been promoted to head coach. Britton native and veteran coach Lyle Pearson recently resigned after guiding the Patriots to a 66-48 record in five seasons and to their first state title in school history in March.
- One of the oldest fast pitch softball events in the state, Young's Tournament, was held for the 40th annual year last weekend in Watertown. It is put on by one of the state biggest softball promoters, Gary Young of Young's Primetime Sports in Watertown.
