The Aberdeen Roncalli girls' golf team finished fifth at the Madison Invitational on Monday.
Harrisburg won the meet with a 361, while Madison placed second with a 365. Roncalli carded a 427 in the six team meet. The score was Roncalli's lowest score of the short season and it shaved 80 strokes off from its last meet.
"We are kind of starting to come around at the right time," Aberdeen Roncalli coach Kerry Brandenburger said. "We are finally getting outside and getting some consistency with playing. Things are getting better."
Taylor Steen of Harrisburg was the individual medalist with an 85. Roncalli's Samantha Bot tied for third place with an 87. She shot a 41 on the front nine and a 46 on the back nine.
"She is consistently at the top," Brandenburger said about Bot. "She played very well, as well as everybody else (for Roncalli)."
Brianna Weber carded a 110. Christian Berbos and Madison Brandenburger both scored 115s. Berbos shaved 10 strokes off of her score from the last meet.
The Cavaliers have a busy schedule coming up. Roncalli will play at the Groton Invitational today. The Northeast Conference meet is Friday in Redfield and the region tournament in Monday in Sisseton.
"I think we are starting to peak at the right time," coach Brandenburger said. "Strokes are trimming off each meet. If we can consistently keep dropping each tournament we play, we are going to be right in it."
