A total of 48 players will be competing in U.S. Open local qualifying tourney at 8 a.m. Monday at Prairie Green Golf Course in Sioux Falls.
The 18-hole qualifying event is one of 111 scheduled nationwide with 9,860 entered.
The top three finishers will advance to sectional qualifying, played over 36 holes on June 3, at 11 sites in the United States. The 113th U.S. Open Championship will be June 13-16 at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa.
Area entrants in Monday's tourney are former Sisseton High School state champion Ryan Medhaug of Veblen and Aberdeen golfers Riley O'Neill and Jonathon Murdy.
