SMITHVILLE, Mo. -- St. Cloud State leads after the first day of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference fall men's golf championships.
The event is being played at the Paradise Point Golf Complex in Kansas City, Mo. It had been scheduled to be played in Lake City, Minn., but was moved due to weather.
The Huskies fashioned a team score of 299 on Saturday, the only team in the 12-team field to break 300. Low rounds on the day went to Jesse Roscoe of Minnesota-Crookston and Charlie West of St. Cloud State, each with scores of 72.
Northern State slipped a bit in the standings from the fall event, when they were ninth. The Wolves currently sit 11th in the team standings with Saturday's score of 335. Northern's three-round total is 998, which is 14 strokes in back of Upper Iowa in 10th place.
Individually, Curry Kuehl fired a round of 80 to lead Northern State golfers, followed by an 85 from Damian Freudenthal. Ryan Patnoe and Zach Hauser were next with 86 and 87, respectively.
The tournament concludes today.
