HURON -- In a spring schedule full of last-minute changes, Jamestown College swept Presentation College on Saturday in a non-conference doubleheader at a neutral site.
Jamestown won 7-2 and 10-0 in games moved down south to Huron because of snow-covered fields in Jamestown, N.D., and Aberdeen. The Jimmies improved to 16-9 on the season and the Saints dropped to 7-13. Jamestown was the designated home team.
Jamestown received two strong pitching performances in both games. Paul Roers went the distance in the first game and improved to 3-1 overall for the Jimmies. Nico Moreno went 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs and Nolan Skowronek had two hits and scored two runs.
In the second game, Presentation didn't get a hit until the eighth inning. Jamestown's Blake Stewart threw seven no-hit innings to improve to 3-1. He pitched eight complete innings allowing just one hit and no earned runs. Matt Achter went 3-for-5 for the Jimmies. Andy Young smacked a three-run home run in the first inning and finished the game with four RBIs.
Presentation and Jamestown plan to play another doubleheader today beginning at noon in Huron.
