The Blizzard, who have clinched a spot in the NAHL playoffs, overcame an early deficit as the Wings dominated the first period and scored the game's first goal when Jordan Heller found the net halfway through the period, with help from Peter Krieger and Justin Parizek.
Aberdeen outshot the Blizzard 19-8 during the first period, but Brookings had a 21-16 advantage the rest of the way.
Two Brookings goals late in the second period put the Blizzard in control. The game-tying goal came on a power play score from Evan Hesse with 3:49 left in the period. Craig Lindegard tallied the go-ahead goal with six seconds left in the second.
Aberdeen was held to an 0-for-4 effort on the power play Friday, while Brookings made good on one of its five chances.
The Wings pulled their goalie in the final minutes of the game, looking for the game-tying goal with an extra skater. However, Brookings took advantage of the empty net as Justin Moody dumped in his team's final goal with 14 seconds remaining.
Aberdeen goalie Zach Nagelvoort made 26 saves in 28 opportunities. Brookings goalie Drew Weigman turned away 34 of the 35 shots he faced. Aberdeen (22-30-7) suffered its first loss since a 4-1 setback on March 2 at Austin. The Blizzard improved to 32-22-5 on the season.
The Wings close out their season tonight hosting the Blizzard at the Odde Ice Center. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
