Warner senior to play for PC volleyball

Warner's Alyssa Jung will play for the Presentation College volleyball team this fall.

 Jung was a two-year letter winner for the Monarchs and was elected as team captain her senior season. She helped the Monarchs to a perfect 34-0 campaign and the State B volleyball title. Warner did not drop a single set all season. The 5-foot-8 libero was named to the Aberdeen American News All-Area team and the All-Lake Region Conference team as well. As a junior, Jung helped Warner to a 28-2 record and the Lake Region Conference title.

 This past season, she had 301 digs and 62 aces. As a junior, she had 158 digs and 71 aces.

NSIC All-Academic teams

 The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced its All-Academic Teams for the 2012-13 winter seasons. To be eligible for this honor, the student-athlete must be a member of the varsity traveling team and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher, be a sophomore and completed at least one full academic year at his/her institution.

 Elizabeth Lamb and Brittany Hills, members of the Dakota Wesleyan women's basketball team, earned Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors. Lamb, a senior accounting and criminal justice double major, has a 3.93 GPA in her final year at DWU. The 5-7 guard from Onida earned All-GPAC honorable mention honors a few weeks ago. Hills, a 5-9 guard from Summit, is a senior elementary education major with a 3.72 GPA.

 The Northern State swimming team has been recognized for its academic efforts in the classroom by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. The CSCAA presents the Team Scholar All-American award to college and university swimming and diving squads who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Northern State was one of 45 Division II teams to earn Scholar All-American status. The Wolves hold a cumulative average of 3.429 following the fall semester, which ranks seventh among those teams. This marks the fifth straight year that the Wolves have earned Scholar All-American status from the CSCAA.

 Michael Pool will play for the Presentation College men's soccer team this upcoming season. Pool is a forward from Pearl River, La., where he was a letter winner and was elected as a team captain during his senior season.

 The Presentation College baseball team will play a pair of games this Friday against Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell. The double header starts at noon.
