The Presentation College softball team split a pair of games during the final day of the Bethany Lutheran College Triangular on Monday.
The Saints lost to Finlandia (Mich.) 10-1 in the first game, but came back for an 8-2 win over Bethany in game two.
The game against Bethany Lutheran was knotted up at 2-2 after the bottom of the fifth inning. The Saints then exploded for four runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a comfortable 6-2 lead. Presentation added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh.
Sarah Hendricks and Kelli Boekelheide powered the Saints by going 2-for-4 from the plate. The duo both had triples, while Hendricks added a double. Hendricks drove in a pair of runs, while Michelle Stratton, Jacque Trost and Danielle Naumann each drove in a run. Trost also had a double. Naumann also picked up the win and fanned eight batters.
In the first game, the Saints plated the first run in the top of the first inning when Boekelheide drove in Shelby Anderson with a double. However, Finlandia scored 10 unanswered runs to pick up the win.
With the split, the Saints have now won 7 of their last 10 games. The statistics for the Finlandia contest were unavailable.
