Presentation built an early lead and went on to a 9-5 college softball victory over the hosts Sunday on the first day of the Bethany Lutheran triangular at the Irish Sports Dome.
Run-scoring singles from Kelsey Schmidt and Danielle Naumann plus a RBI ground out by Jacque Trost got the Saints off to a good start in the first inning. Presentation tacked on three more in the third as Hannah Mastel drove in a run with a single and two more runs scored on a Bethany Lutheran error.
The Saints led 7-2 going into the bottom of the sixth inning before the Vikings put together a three-run rally to close the gap. PC scored its last two runs in the seventh inning when Trost drilled a two-run single to score Kelli Boekelheide and Shelby Anderson.
Presentation rapped out 11 hits in the win, with two each for Anderson, Trost and Michelle Stratton. The Saints also played Finlandia (Mich.) on Sunday, but results of that game were unavailable. Presentation faces both teams again today.
