Onida woman, Coyotes take on Utah State

 Here are 10 things to know about the tonight's NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Invitational involving the University of South Dakota:

10: The Coyotes (17-15) will play the Utah State Aggies (18-13) at 8 p.m. tonight in the 10,270-seat Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in Logan, Utah. The 16-team DI tourney is an alternative for teams that don't make the 64-team national tourney.

9: Utah State rallied to defeat visiting USD 70-69 on Dec. 20 by outscoring the Coyotes 19-4 in the last 5½ minutes. Devyn Christensen made the game-winning three-pointer with 10 seconds left.

7: Utah State is in the top 10 of three categories of the NCAA Division I statistics: second in free throw percentage (80.1), fifth in scoring offense (76.7 points per game) and ninth in steals (12.1 per game).

6: While the Aggies are big on offense, the Coyotes are big on defense, allowing just 57.1 points per game.

5: The starting point guard for USD the past three seasons has been senior Alexis Yackley of Onida. She is averaging 5.2 assists, 4.9 rebounds, 3.2 points and 1.4 steals per game. Yackley is fifth in all-time assists (424) at USD and is 13th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.2-to-1).

4: The Coyotes have five South Dakotans: Yackley, Margaret McCloud of Rapid City, Heidi Hoff of Brandon, Tia Hemiller of Watertown and Bailey Milne of Madison.

3: USD 6-foot-2 freshman reserve Margaret McCloud has relatives in Faulkton and is the Coyotes' leading rebounder with 205 this season (7.1 per game).

2: The Coyotes are making their third-straight DI postseason appearance. USD made it to the second round of the Women's National Invitational Tournament last season (beat Drake 61-53 and lost to Colorado 64-55) and the second round of the WBI in 2011 (beat Idaho 62-47 and lost to Cal State-Bakersfield 90-64).

1: USD sophomore and Summit League Tournament MVP Nicole Seekamp hasn't missed a free throw since Feb. 2 (24 in a row over 10 games).
