BISMARCK, N.D. - The surging Aberdeen Wings came out on the winning end again Friday, taking a 2-1 overtime North American Hockey League decision over the Bismarck Bobcats.

Peter Krieger's goal less than a minute into the extra period, with an assist from Jake Horton, was the difference as the Wings won for the 11th time in their past 15 games.

The hosts got on the board in the first period with a short-handed goal from Daniel Kovar two minutes into the game. The Wings were outshot by an 18-5 margin in the opening 20 minutes, but Wings goalie Chad Catt stood strong, turning away 17 shots. The Wings got the tying goal in the second as Horton found the net, assisted by Kyle Kruenegel. The teams played through a scoreless third period.

Catt finished with 46 saves in 47 chances, while Bryan Nies stopped 18 of the 20 shots he faced.

The Wings (19-29-7) kept their playoffs hopes alive, as the Minot Minotauros were beaten 3-2 by Austin Friday night. The simplest playoff scenario is, if the Wings lose one of their remaining games or if Minot wins one of its remaining games, Minot secures a playoff spot in the Central Division playoffs along with Austin, Bismarck and Brookings.

The Wings and Bismarck meet again tonight at 7:15 p.m.
