HAZELTON, N.D. - Napoleon jumped out to a 17-6 lead after one quarter and rolled to a 59-41 victory over Ellendale to capture the Region 3B title Thursday.
Kendra Weigel and Sheridan Dewald tallied 16 points each to pace the Napoleon effort, with Weigel collecting eight steals and Dewald gathering in a dozen rebounds.
Napoleon opened up a 22-point halftime cushion, shooting 50 percent in the opening half, while the Cardinals hit on just five of 25 shots (20 percent).
Dacey Fuller had 10 points to lead Ellendale, which finished its season at 16-7.
Napoleon, 22-1, will face Beach, the Region 7 champion, on March 21 in the first round of the North Dakota Class B tournament at the Fargodome.
In the third place game, Linton-Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock defeated Kidder County, 44-35.
